At Academy at Ivy Ridge, we provide a progressive academic curriculum which is based on students’ competency and is individualized. This encourages self-paced learning and helps students to do enhanced learning. To help students feel comfortable and study at their own pace, they don’t need to be part of the regular academic system.
Instead they need to first complete a skill-building course to help them adjust to the Ivy Ridge academic system. The skill-building course aims to help students with their reading and comprehension, memory, spelling and vocabulary skills.
When students take admission, their transcripts are evaluated and they are assisted to design an appropriate course of study. Students can also earn advanced credits in addition to the minimum required credits. Advanced credits can be earned in Math, English, Science, History, Physical Education and many elective classes. Our academic programs are designed for both – a college-prep student as well as the learning-disabled student. Students need to score a level of 80% to earn a credit for a class.
Ivy Ridge academic program is based on a module system i.e. a student needs to master one module before starting the next. Teachers are available for guidance and if a student is unable to pass a test, teachers help them identify their improvement areas and students can take the test again. Ivy Ridge provides an independent study system.
We provide structured learning experience to our students so that they can involve themselves in the process of learning throughout their lives. We also help them develop self-esteem and have a positive outlook towards life. Students take part in various activities that allow them to grow academically, socially, physically and emotionally. Students here are also supposed to follow certain upper New York academy rules as a result of which they become disciplined. Each student follows a daily schedule and they are given responsibilities and many opportunities to make personal choices.
